1937-1947 Chevrolet Pick Up T5 Transmission Adapter (2170)

When you’re cruising down the road in your classic Chevrolet, do you ever try to grab another gear and then realize that third gear is as high as you can go? The solution is here. Make your Chevy pickup more drivable by putting a 5-speed behind that sweet 6-cylinder engine with our transmission adapter kit.

This adapter is used to mount a 1982-1992 S10 5-speed transmission to a 1937-1947 Chevy pickup’s bell housing with casting number 839257, 838533 or 838673. The adapter plate positions the clutch disc in the proper place on the input shaft. No modifications are required on the input shaft or clutch disc for installation.

Our Chevy T5 transmission adapter kit includes:

– Adapter plate

– (2) ½ – 13×1¼” flat head socket screws

– (2) ½ – 13×1⅜” cap screws

– (2) ½ – 13×1¼” cap screws

– (6) ½” lock washers

– (2) ½ – 13×2” studs

– (2) ½ – 13 nuts

This kit is 100% made in the USA. Our adapter plates are precision-machined from high strength 7075 aluminum alloy.

Please note:

An open drive rear axle is required to complete the transmission conversion to improve your hot rod’s performance.

On manual clutch applications the throw out bearing sleeve on the bearing retainer need’s to be shortened. This is included in the instructions.

A new clutch disc is also required for the installation of a new transmission. This part is not included in our kit. In the instructions, we have listed part numbers for clutch discs of different diameters so you can match the size of your current disc.

We also recommend using a 75” speedometer cable, NAPA p/n 615-1605 (not included).
